I think you should go to a local Farmer's market and buy from there. If more than one stall selling butter, go to the one with the longest queue

scottish

sea salt butter. its amazing.

I like Tillamook sweet cream both salted and unsalted. It's easily available to me, which helps.

irish butter called kerry gold availabele in most supermarkets

Welsh, salty farmhouse butter- the BEST!!!!!!!!!

english anchor butter tastes great!

lurpack

Land O Lakes -- American butter!!!

Get 1 pack crumpets and 6 pack of butter, english, french, Swiss (my favourite - white, creamy unsalted), local, mass produced dairy whatever and taste test it...
All you are going to get here are peoples subjective opinions and some quick points....
Waiting for the utterly fans....

no reason - its personal taste.

i like anchor - think its english

we used to get one called (i think) greenleaf, if i remember right it was from new zealand, that was nice as well.

Am I missing something??? Are there really different types of butters?? I live in the boondocks of NE Arizona and I have a pretty small selection here of butters. LOL My daughter thinks Brummel and Brown is the best but its yogurt! I thought Challenge butter was good! Hmmm Im gonna have to look up some different kinds of butter....MMMmmm maybe find some good breads to put it on!

Goat's butter - much nicer than cow's butter. I have to have it because I'm intolerant to cow's milk, so have to have goat's butter - but believe me it's very nice. So is goat's milk.

Anchor butter is best. I use it on butter scones and lightly toasted white bread.

one with out salt

Lurpack.
