It's a turnip if you're in the south but called a swede if you're in the north (UK)

Thanks beetlebug, dunno why so many thumbs down, it is the truth!

Jay C, they call it tatties and neeps (turnips) but the picture shown is not what they would use as a neep! They would use what we (down south) would call a swede (the orange variety)

Flamehearted, please don't listen to anyone except me and beetlebug, we are the only ones that know what we are talking about! :-)

Well done, you made the right choice!!! Report It

It's a turnip, or a neep as they call it north of the border.

Just looks like an ordinary turnip!

    Its a turnip, you turnip!!

    It's a swede.
They are even called swedes in Scottish shops now but Scots still call them turnips.

it's a tumshie (otherwise known as neep, swede or turnip)

Looks like a turnip to me.
Boil and mash together with potato and a little butter. Yum, yum!

    Rutabaga or swede.

    It's defiantely a turnip.

A swede is different entirely from a turnip.

Its a swede, or a turnip (in Scotland). Please note, its a Swede turnip (white on the outside) genome name "ratabaga" and is completely different from the native UK species of turnip which has a purplely colour on the outside and are smaller.

Its a turnip (although here in newcastle a swede is known as a turnip too)

    definitely a turnip

    swede.

    Choc love & Beetlebug

I's the other way round, it's a swede in the south and a turnip or neep in Scotland.

to me it looks like a turnip.

if you would have searched through the same website you posted above. you'd have found your own answer.. its a turnip variety that has a greenish tint top instead of the usual pink/purple tint.. here is the link within the same site you posted above

It's a Swede. Turnip is the smaller veg to the right of it. Here in Ireland, however, we call the veg you are refering to as Turnip as we don't really get the other smaller purple and white ones. So, what you call it depends really where you come from. The flesh of that veg on tle left is yellowy and makes the house smell of farts when you cook it !

    IT'S A TURNIP
And choc love is right..It's called a swede in Scotland

EDIT: How many thumbs down for me and choclove?? Obviously need more scots on here

Its a Radish.... a Daikon Radish to be precise.

its a radish it tells u that
