you can let it defrost safely in the fridge but for a quicker way to defrost run it under cold water until ready to eat! doing this is safe and soooo much faster.

If seafood products are vacuum sealed in a plastic pouch or sealed container place them in a sink with cold running water until thawed. If your fish is wrapped in plastic or just raw, place it on a plate in the refrigerator, cover with plastic wrap the night before you want to cook it, and let it thaw. Water in direct contact with raw product washes away the color and flavor of seafood.

just put it in the imitation microwave... known as the counter..

let it defrost naturally

If I want it later I defrost it in the fridge sealed just like I bought it. If I want it now then I use the defrost cycle in my microwave oven but I pierce the package so it doesn't explode.

place in the sink and let cold water run over it (Small steady stream) for 1/2 hour....If you want to eat it now....you can cook it while frozen.

Not long! I just put the package into a bowl of water and let it defrost.

Or if I am making a cold dish like pasta salad with imitation crab, i can just put it in there partially frozen and it will be fine (especially because the noodles are still hot)

The only problem with defrosting imitation crab is that the extra ingreidnets in it..The stuff that isn't meat. they melt and turn into liquid so when you eat it there is this liquidy f lavor that goes with it, and it is not that way if you eat it before freezing.
