Get rid of food odors. 10 points for the best advise. Thank you?!

Question: My co-worker always asked me to eat lunch with her at a Chinese Restuarant. She is a senoir employee and always look out for me. We establish a great relationship by talking during lunch etc.

The bad part is the food odors are on me. It makes me smell bad after I went to lunch. I feel paranoid to be around other people after lunch. What do I do to get rid of the smell.

Thank you.

Bring a change of clothes to wear at lunch, and a toothbrush to use after. Wash your face and hands, and change back into your work clothes when you get back to work. You are noticing the odor more than your co-workers, but try the above anyways!

baking soda! well maybe you can go shopping for new clothes!

Febreze

Febreeze or dryer sheets. You can take a dryer sheet and run it over your clothing in the rest room at work. This will at least help to alleviate the odor.

You could buy a small spray bottle to keep at your desk and fill it with Febreeze. Lightly spray your clothes when you get back and then walk around for a couple of minutes to let them dry off a bit.

Okay, this may sound odd, but if you can find a "head shop" or "paraphenilia" type store (or dont mind ordering online) you can get a product called "Ozium" www.atmosphereproducts.com or a plethora of other sites (Google it.) sell it.
The product comes in a spray bottle (compressed) and uses Ozone to take all smells out of the air (clothes, hair, etc.) and bring the air back to neutral.
This is the same principal as using an Ozone Generater in your home (to remove odor from........Whatever) and has been used by many people for many reasons........IT WORKS!!!!!!
OR- if you dont wanna go through the hassle, get a spray bottle of original "febreeze" from wal-mart as it is probably the next best thing.

you could wear a sweater and take off the sweater when you are finished. you could put an air freshener in your car so on the way back to the office you will gradually smell like the car. good luck.

carry small bottle of febreze or perfume..bathe in baking soda the night bfore

febreeze

I have tried so much, but when the smells are fat based, they are hard to get rid of. Try a blast of perfume, or quick squirt with hairspray, wash hands well in a fragrant soap if you have it, rinse enough to get the bubbles off, then give yourself a sprinkle...lightly now. Stand in front of hand blow dryer. I now carry a dryer softner sheet with me at all times to run over my clothing. Some even carry a mini Fabreeze odor neutralizer.

Been there...good luck

OK first off, you aren't the only one that smells like you ate food for lunch. I'm sure your co-worker smells the same, but you can't smell it as strong on her, because your "closest' to you! Does that makes sense? Probably not! What I mean is you smell it strong on you, because your nose is so close to yourself. If it will make you feel better, you can spray a few things to help. Not saying you have bad breath, but maybe some mints might make it less noticeable, secondly you can use febreeze but not sure that will dissipate the food smell altogether, your just going to smell stronger spraying something on top of the food. You could try Ozium which they sell at Walmart in the auto aisle next to the other air fresheners (Ozium is used by fire departments to eliminate smoke odors, as well as by auto body shops to eliminate paint fumes inside cars when they are painted) You can buy it to spray in the car, or restroom and it will eliminate odors, and they have a vanilla fragrance too. They have small canisters at Walmart for cars so it could possibly fit in a small purse or briefcase if needed. But again you might be trading one smell for another. If your eating curries at lunch, it might be a good idea to step back from those and eat something a little less potent. Again, these are suggestions. You could also buy some hand sanitizer in different fragrances (Bath and Body works usually have purse sizes) in all different fragrances. There are several options, and maybe if you have the option of going out to eat, if there is outside seating or possibly a park close by you could try eating there instead of inside where the food is cooking.

Excellent question by the way, I think I could have gone on and on (Oh I did, your right!) =)

Dontcha hate that!.....There are 2 major things to think about .
Your hair and your blouse..........A covering to wear over your blouse then take off before going back to work and some kind of hairspray to mask the hair smell.
On nice days, suggest getting to go and eat outdoors.
Remember, she's smells as bad as you, so no worries there.
If you have time, get a short walk in before you go into the workplace.............If it's just co-workers, who cares.
The blouse should be able to be taken care of one way or the other....The hair would be the biggest problem.
Or, nicely suggest a different place to try for lunch
