Do I have 2peel the rind from oranges & grapefruits before putting them thru the juicer, or leave the rind on?!

Question: I know there'll be a difference in the taste but is there any goodness in the rind?

Answers: I know there'll be a difference in the taste but is there any goodness in the rind?

there is plenty of goodness in the rind, but also a nasty strong bitter taste. I would use only the flesh, and put the rinds in a pot on the stove with about 4 cups of water, a few cloves, and a cinnamon stick... simmer all day adding more water as it evaporates.. makes your home smell delicious and is a great cheap potpourri.

i would make sure you clean the fruit but cant see why not.

apparently that is were the most vitamins are but it tastes horrible

The white part of the rind is full of vit K which helps strengthen blood vessels and helps blood clot. The orange part has the essential oils and is quite bitter, so you can put it all in, but the taste could be altered. Eating a peeled orange would be so much better for you anyway, you get the benefit of the fiber. And the white part is really a benefit to heart and vascular health. You pour it out of the fiber basket when you juice it.

No you dont have to remove it but it will cause more waste so you will have to empty the waste container more frequently so best to remove it first, also depending on which jucer you hace if you dont remove the pith it could make the juice very bitter.

I personally would peel them, you don't know what kind of preservative's have been used or how many people touched them and you can't wash off germs in cold water

Do NOT leave the rind on citrus fruits when juicing.
It wrecks havoc on your juicer blades and motor. True, a lot of the nutrition is in the rind, but you can also preserve some of that by not completely peeling off the pith.

i would the pith will make it really bitter . if its a whole fruit juicer you are only meant to put the fruit in with skin in if its is edible ie apples ,pears any thing you would not eat yourself ie oranges, lemons ,pineapple you are meant to peel...
