Rolled out flat dumplings?!

Question: I want to make flat dumplings? What ingredients do I use to make the dough?

My aunt taught me this and believe it or not they are really good. Use bisquick and buttermilk. Mix by hand while slowly pouring in buttermilk (or you can use regular milk, but buttermilk makes them better). Mix enough of both until you get it to a "dough" like consistancy. Use flour to sprinkle for rolling out the dough. Cut them into desired sized with a pizza cutter or sharp knife. Drop them in boiling broth, stew etc...

You can just use flour and water. Some people put egg in theirs, but flour and water makes a good dumpling and they are easy!

Yvonne is right, but egg helps enrich with protein and makes for light dumpling.

Also, a really nice tender dumpling from Italy is just egg yolks and flour. Mmmmm. Roll flat and then again. Cut into desired shapes.

Try these:
1 1/2 c. self rising flour
4 Tbs. shortening
3/4 c. buttermilk
Cut the shortening into the flour with your fingers or pastry cutter.Add buttermilk--mix well with a fork....turn dough onto floured board--
roll thin and cut into squares...
drop on top of chicken and broth.
Mix 2 Tbs. flour with enough milk to make a paste....then add more milk to make it pouring consistency...
pour over dumplings and dot with butter....
Cover and cook on medium for about 10 minutes....
ENJOY!!!
