I use to have my own chickens that were "yard raised" and we often had double yolks. No problems just extra large eggs sometimes have double yolks. Should have been two eggs.....but out popped one!

Twins.

Some types of chickens tend to lay more double yolk than others.

they r twins

twins! probably something to do with all the crazy genetic sh!t we're doing to our chickens =(

alot of Jumbo sized eggs seem to have double yolks

Double yolks are a "mistake" in the chicken's reproductive system that sometimes happens when a hen just starts laying eggs and her system is still trying to figure out how to do it correctly. Double Yolkers appear when ovulation occurs too rapidly, or when one yolk somehow gets "lost" and is joined by the next yolk. Double yolkers may be by a pullet whose productive cycle is not yet well synchronized. They're occasionally laid by a heavy-breed hen, often as an inherited trait.

You must be buying jumbo eggs. It is more common with that size. I see it all the time because that is what I buy!
