How is there fat in an avocado?!
Answers: Is this the only fruit with fat in it?
certain fruits produce oils (fat). Avocados & olives to name two.
Of course nuts produce oils as well coconut, walnut, etc.
Many fruits and vegetables contain fat. As a matter of fact, if you go down to the grocery store and take a look at all the different kinds of oil - olive, peanut, corn, grape seed, rapa, sunflower, walnut. . . . . . . many more - they are all vegetable or fruit based. In fact, the only two commonly used edible fats that are not vegetable based are butter and lard.
Avocados are a berry actually. They contain lots and lots of fat and calories. BUT the fat is monounsaturated fat. This is the good fat that can lower your cholesterol levels in your blood and help your heart. Olives and peanuts have these fats too. Coconuts also. Natural plant source occuring fats are usually good for you, plants want you to eat their fruits so the better they taste (fat tastes good!) the more you will eat them and disperce their seeds and thus help them populate. Plants are actually very smart! The fig tree makes its fruit pass through you quick, plum tree too (prunes anyone?), this is so that your body does not digest the seeds but rather you 'disperse' the seeds (ahem) in a short time preserving the seed from your stomach acids. The fruit plants did not count on modern plumbing, they count on you walk away and dispose of the seeds on the ground, thus planting their seeds and growing more plants. Apples are smart too, you grab an apple, walk and eat the fleshy fruit and by the time you get to the core, you are a while away and you drop it- the plant can now grow further away than just falling off the tree and not be competing with the 'mother' tree for soil nutrients. Plants evolve methods to spread their seeds, yummy fatty fruit is one way. So this should answer your WHY.
Avocados are good for you, so eat up, but everything in moderation. :)
Avocado is healthy fruit.
No issue of Fat.
