What are apple cider donuts?!
Answers: I've heard lots or people talk about them and how good they are but they don't make them anywhere in my area to be able to try them.
I think they are old-fashioned cinnamon-sugar donuts that they usually make at cider mills, and they sell alongside their apple cider which is why they are often also called apple cider donuts.
I don't know what area you are in. But there is a cider mill nearby where I live, that is only open in the fall from around Labor Day until the Sunday after Thanksgiving, and they make the most delicious donuts I've ever tasted!
They are crispy on the outside, and on the inside its soft, sweet and melt in your mouth! Just thinking about it makes my mouth water, makes me wish that it was fall again, and long for the months to pass by quickly so it could be September again soon!
**ADDED**
I just read some of the other people's responses where they said that apple cider donuts are made with apple cider, and/or have chunks of apples in them.
I don't know about the places they get them from, but at the cider mill I go to, I don't think they use apples or apple cider in the donuts themselves.
Their donuts are just a crispy cinnamon-sugar donut, with no apple ingredients that I know of. I think that they are just called apple cider donuts, because they are sold at a cider mill alongside apple cider.
They're food from the gods. Oh my goodness they're so good. :D
They are just donuts made with or flavored with apple cider. Here, they are a fall thing...you see them around our fall or apple festivals, but no other time.
apple cider dounuts are a cinnamon donut with apple chuncks in it me persanaly they GOOD^O^ i dono were you can find them sorry try...
donut man will have them
They are delicous. I don't know how to make them but they're basically donuts made w/ apple cider. The only time I ever have them is when I go to the apple orchard to go apple picking.
I wish they sold them year round at my grocery but I'm assuming they wouldn't be as good as the ones straight from the orchard.
They make different kinds. I live in Orange County and in San Bernardino we have a little town called Oak Glen that is home to all sorts of apple orchards. They have raised donuts (made with yeast) that they pour apple cider into the dough & then fry them...then roll in cinnoman & sugar. Then, I have also had the cake kind that are made also by pouring apple cider into dough...then they are baked. Here is a recipe.
