What is your favorite deli meat? With what bread?!
Answers: Pastrami on rye. I love it. So fattening and so good, but luckily, I don't have to worry about weight. I call it a heart attack in a sandwich.
Pastrami, rye.
a good pastrami on rye or pumpernickle loaded with gruyere and spicey mustard.
Corned beef on rye..... while you're at it, just turn it into a reuben w/ sauerkraut and 1000 Island Dressing.
OR
Shaved ham on rye w/ mayo.
Thinly sliced Hard Salami on a good dark German Rye. Add a little whole grain mustard and a slice of Swiss Cheese and I will be a happy camper!
Ham on Rye
Salami on whole wheat
My city used to have a deli (long closed) that brought in a "Liver Loaf" - it looked like a large meat loaf and was cold and sliced like any cold cut - but, unfortunately, I haven't seen it in years.
If I could get it, I'd also like hot (heat not spice) Leberkase - but where I live, nobody makes it. It looks like bologna, is made in loaves and baked - usually served hot in a fresh baked Kaiser roll. If you've travelled in Bavaria or western Austria, you've probably had it.
So, day to day, I have to settle for smoked turkey breast on multi-grain rye bread.
roast beef, chabatta bread
