I have to fill a drawer with gourmet chocolate... suggestions?!
I concur- I do have an awesome boyfriend.
I am providing the starter supply for Valentine's day, and want to have a good variety of really good chocolate.
(So no Cadbury, Godiva, Dove, or Russell Stover please- I like them as much as anyone on a rainy day, but I want this to be really excellent stuff).
Luckily, I live in NYC, and can get almost anything. So any directives to obscure Luxembourg chocolatiers that you absolutely cannot live without (or those of other locales) would be very much appreciated. And happy Valentine's Day:)
Answers: My boyfriend decided that we should convert our silverware drawer to the purpose of storing a variety of dark chocolates.

Ick. All of the above suggestions are as bad as Russell Stover. To get the really good chocolate, you need to go to a place that makes it on-site. When I was in Belgium, they had little kiosks where you would walk up to a window and ask for the chocolate you wanted. It even had an expiration date of about 2 weeks. My very favorite was the candied orange peel dipped in dark chocolate (I am drooling remembering it). I also loved dark chocolate covered black walnuts, YUM!
Lindor. *drool*
Wow, to me Godiva is a luxury.
And I have to concur . . . your boyfriend ROCKS.

it isn't all choc but get some of the old fashion peppermint sticks ( the soft ones ) dip them in choc and let them cool they will keep as well as any if you wrap them well good luck i think you have ruled out all my fav choc other than herseys
Perugina Baci's. Any Feodora chocolates.
Lindt chocolate truffles
Fanny Mae Chocolates..... you can order them online.... they are great.......
I used to work at Godiva, and having that stuff on hand every day turned me into a major chocolate snob ... even tho I sort of hate the company now, it's the best mass-market brand
That said, my absolute favorite now is a brand called Vosges... you can get their chocolate bars at Whole Foods, but there may be a Vosges boutique in New York. My only advice -- don't get too many truffles at once, they're made with fresh cream and have a short shelf-life.
Also in that price range, Richart does interesting flavor collections, such as floral, herbal and spices.
Dark Ghirardelli's w/ caramel. Unfortunately everything else you've mentioned is on my list of greats, except Cadbury. Good luck on you search.
