Women are you really addicted to chocolate?!

Question: I'm watching a valentine show on the Food Channel and It seems to me that you are! Don't understand why though. Does it make you horny or does it make you feel euphoria? I'm male and it has no such effect on me.

Uh, duh. What time of the month is it?
If you eat chocolate and it has no affect on you, you need to be eating it with a woman. It'll have an affect on you.

    Not a big fan actually

    I can't even explain it.
But it's scientifically proven to have stuff in it that makes you feel better.

    I love dark chocolate...
it's not an obsession but when i eat it...i don't want to stop.

try dark chocolate hershey syrup with cheddar cheez Its and you won't be able to stop..
    sounds gross but it's amazing.

I actually don't even really like chocolate.

    im craving it now!!!!
    screw my damn period!!!!

My husband likes chocolate not me...so I don't know much about an addiction.
But they say tha kind of trigger some cells in your brain. LOL

harvey--yes, or with pretzels. Even brownies with sausage, it sounds weird but is reminiscent of pancakes and sausage. Chocolate goes with many savory foods as well as sweet ones. I've seen recipes for chili with cocoa, and a hot drink made with chicken broth and cocoa. Both recipes are from The Frugal Gourmet, Jeff Smith. I don't believe we are addicted to chocolate, but it is one of the few mood altering foods you can consume without getting arrested.

Yes,I'm addicted !!! but for me it works as a pain reliever and it does work. By eating a couple of pieces at the beginning of a migraine the pain subsides within 20 minutes. It also helps with my arthritis. My answer to your comments of what you think is happening in a women's body.................noway no such luck!!!!!!!!!!

they say women crave it a lot during their period cause chocolate has magnesium which your body lacks during that "time of the month"? (i dont know i read that in a magazine). im only a chocolate addict when im on it but when im not, i dont care for it as much. unless its a twix lol

I wouldn't say that I'm addicted to it, but I do love it. No, it doesn't make me horny, and the euphoria I get from it is just like one that anyone would get from eating a food that they love. The best reason I can think of is that chocolate has caffeine in it. The darker the chocolate is, the more caffeine it has. Caffeine is a drug. Much in the way that people have an addiction or develop a dependency to coffee, similarly, chocolate can cause the same effect.

Additionally, many women tend to crave chocolate right before menstruation. Women experience a magnesium deficiency prior to their period and chocolate is rich in magnesium. The consuption of chocolate, in turn, partially relieves some premenstrual symptoms caused by the lack of magnesium.

Another thing I have noticed is simply that in general, women tend to have more of a sweet tooth than men, so this might account for that.

Lastly, it has been suggested that chocolate contains substances that mimic the effect that marijuana has on the brain, although most studies show that it is in too small amounts to have an effect.
