Chocolate. That probably doesn't help you but I have no idea what you need the food for anyway.

Buy a basic foods like bread, milk, and meat, veges, and fruits.

ice cream

potatoes
bananas
apples
onions
pasta/noodles
rice
cheese
beans
flour
butter
broccoli
ground beef
canned chicken
canned soup
Kraft dinners
sugar
tomato sauce
butter
milk

there-- you can afford that and prepare endless meals. use allrecipes.com Ingredient search for recipes

you wont get very far with £20, so heres what I would advise you to buy to keep you going for a week.

500grams of basic/value pasta 40p
1 loaf of bread 70p (get a decent one, they last longer!)
rice 500g £1
chopped tomatoes x 4 aprox £1
curry sauce or chilli sauce (buy a decent one but make it small as you can bulk it up with chopped tomatoes) £1
bag of dried beans or lentils £1
milk 2 pints 70p
value cheese £1
pack of yogurts or any other on offer for £1
meat:get decent stuff, spend upto £5 for 3 portions and get chicken fillets or mince meat but not the value types
fruit: 5 apples and pears and oranges £2
vegetables: frozen peas or sweetcorn or any other type you like- frozen is cheaper then fresh stuff. £2
butter 50p
porridge 50p

Bolognaise or shepherds pie are both cheap & filling to eat. Also both these dishes reheat well so u can feed yourself for a whole day on them for a small cost.Neither dish takes much preparation & neither takes very long to cook. For bolognase youd need pasta, mince,an onion ,a jar of bolgnaise sauce & cheese 4 on top if u like. For shepherds pie ud need potatoes, mince, tin peas & carrots,an onion & gravy. You could buy the ingredients for both of these dishes for under a tenner.

sausages, potatoes tomatoe puree italian seasoning, onions mushrooms, peppers, make sausage casserole on jacket potatoes, n still have money for a beer, genious

Mince
Onions
Mushrooms
Tin toms
Tomato pure`e
Garlic
Italian herbs
Small peice of parmesan (not that ready grated sh!t)
Bottle of wine
Rice or pasta or spuds
If you buy spuds you will need a bottle of oil for your chips!
Small baton of bread
Butter

Some one really nice to share it all with - and maybe a cuddle or two............Have fun......Enjoy.............................

with £20 i suggest you get a cabbage, some fish you can add to the oven and some frozen oven chips with frozen mixed vegetables or make some home made stew get all your veggies chopped up like carrots, brussels, celery, onions, leeks, parsnips etc and get a can or too of spam chop up the spam add it to your vegggies use a stock cube and put it in the oven and cook the veggies as spam is already cooked and if you have a bit of spare cash get some steamed puds like treacle sponge or strawberry with some custard
