No. But you'll get less flavor. Browning the meat puts a nice flavor to the meat.

Too muuch juice exits the meat, consequently drying-out the stuff. Ergo: Tough.

Trust me, brown your meat first, then put it in the oven and cook on a very low temp. for a longer time and cover it w/ foil!! Yummm delicious tender meat!!

we would not take the extra time to do so if it had no benefit
