Aspartame and Artificial Sweeteners?!
Thanks
Answers: What is the deal with artificial sweeteners and aspartame in sugar-free gums? Does it cause like brain defects and stuff like everyone says? Are there any artificial sweetners that are better for you (no health risks?) or is it better to just use regular sugar? This is from a non-diabetic point of view, but if you are a diabetic and have been informed on it and have some of these answers, that would be helpful...
Thanks
Since there are tons of artificial sweeteners out there, you can never be sure what is good or bad. What could be "safe" now can be found later to be really bad for you. That's why I generally stay away from artificial sweeteners (plus I don't like the taste of it).
I noticed someone suggested Xylitol- it's generally to be safe, but high doses can have a laxative effect.
Recently the sweetener Sorbitol has been getting more popular in particular for gum. But it has a REALLY high laxative effect so stay away from sorbitol.
Generally it's probably good not to eat too much sugar or artificial sugars. Too much of anything isn't good. even water
Same as diet soda...in adults it is a source of less harmful glucose and will maintain weight.
But aspartame in children is harmful..in the 90's it was linked to growth and brain isssues which was proven in 2003 or 2004....it's just a sugar sub, but not good for children.
try xilitol its all natural and is sugar free.
It's not good for you.....they say it is one of the things when comsumed so much of...it can cause Cancer...
Best bet...it to either use honey...or Organic Sugar!
artificial is bad...just like noah meister when he died his hair red and turned into an artificial ginger.
just use the regular kind.
