I don't think homemade ice cream is as good as the modern day gourmet, high butterfat ice creams are today. Some of us older folks remember the good ole days when we made our own and remember it as being fabulous. The reality is, if you put homemade and today's gourmet ice cream side by side, today's would win hands down. The only thing is with today's modern version is you don't get to crank the handle on the ice cream maker. What fun is that?
