Why are buffalo wings called so?!

The time was 1964 and the place was a neighborhood Buffalo, N.Y., joint called Anchor Bar. Its owner, Theresa Bellisimo, stuck some chicken wings under the broiler, covered them in a sauce using Frank's Red Hot as its base, and served them with celery sticks and the house blue cheese dressing.
Everyone in the bar that night who tried them loved them and the wings — which had been destined for chicken stock — became a hot menu item.

Like everyone else said already, Buffalo NY is where they caught on real big.

But it's not just the wing itself, it's the manner in which it's cooked that makes it a true "Buffalo Wing"...

The wings are deep fried (from frozen) without any batter for a one-of-a-kind crispy deliciousness, then spun (or shaken) in a spicy sauce...techinically speaking, it's NOT supposed to be barbeque, although many different flavors of sauce have become accepted.

That is the TRUE "Buffalo" wing.
