School food?!
Answers: the school systems overall in the USA serve + allow machines to have for purchase absolute garbage , this is what is being taught : it's ok to eat like this or we would not give it to you , we care about your future . the salad bar + bottled water is what i would call a bribe to placate the complainers . is it this way in other large developed countries , do their schools serve garbage to their students or is it just big business in the USA
I have eaten in schools in three countries and I can tell you that school cafeteria food is the same everywhere in the Western World.
it is about the money. A kid may not spend $.35 on a baggie of carrots but he will on chips.
exactly what the first answer said it is all about school money. i would ? to have a salad bar at school
i think yea because the food my school does we find hair in the food ewwww i no its nasty
I was a lunch lady at one time. it isn't as easy to get kids to actually eat what is for lunch. They food they serve is ok for the kids. it does have nutritional value. but if the parents want them to eat better there is the option of salad. You have to serve what kids will eat.
Vending machines exist for one reason only - to make money. Hoewever, the school's administration does have the authority to decide which items are available in the vending machine (junk food vs health food snacks). In addition, there are vending machine companies offering healthy alternatives to junk food. See the following link for more info.
