Heavy hors doeuvres reception???!
Answers: how does this work? is it a good idea for a wedding reception? do they set it up kind of like a buffet?
This is how my wedding reception will work. We will have passed hors d'oeuvres, stationary hors d'oeuvres, and carving stations. We are doing our reception at a restaurant but we'll still have a band and a dance floor, etc. We thought the hors d'ouevres idea would make it feel more like a cocktail party, yet still fill the guests up with enough food. I think it's a fabulous idea! Have fun at your wedding. :)
Hors doeuveres are always a great thing. You can have them passed or set on a table like a buffet. It all depends on the type of hors d. you choose. and if your looking to cut back on money a lot of the time weddings or big banquets will go real heavy on hors and appitizers and skip the soup and salad.
My cousin had a very fashionable wedding on a mountain top with wedding and reception at the "Log Cabin" and they served tons of hors doeuvres. There were all kinds of fruit, cheeses, crackers, and then steak, bacon wrapped scallops, shrimp, and a ton of other stuff that I did not know what it was. It was set up on a beautifully decorated thee-tired round table. The bride and bride's maids had a room of their own and hor doeuvres were served in the private room. It was soooo filling. There was a sit-down dinner with prime-rib, stuffed fish and stuffed chicken. But I was really amazed at the delicious and various hors doeuvres.
