Question: just for yourself...also, what are some ways to save money on food? is there any way to spend around $25 a week or less on food?

When I was single, I could live on Ramen noodles and Mac n' cheese, so I definitely spent less than $25 a week! But now, to feed a family of four, I spend about $125 a week. I shop at stores like Save-a-Lot, and Aldi. Also, plan out a menu for all meals. Make your grocery list for all the things you will need (right down to spices) to make each meal. Inventory your fridge and cupboards while making your list so you don't end up with duplicate items. Read the sale ads and buy things that you know you use or need while on sale. Most grocery stores run sales like "10 for $10" or buy 1 get 1 free. And don't be afraid to buy store brands or generics! 9 times out of 10, they are just as good as the national brand names. Coupons can be good resources too. Get together with a couple of freinds or family members to swap coupons for the items you use. I do all of this and save about $80 - $100 a week on my grocery bill! ;)

I spend prolly about $50 a week ...I eat out every day for lunch.

Spend less than $25 take you lunches to work and eat ramen noodles and cheap stuff like thaht

Well at school I normally spend $15 a week.
If you mean how to spend less like at home I would say buy generic, and don't eat as much.

For my husband and I we usually spend $100.

I spend about $80 a week for myself, and when I have my daughter it is about $120.

around 50 babe

I currently spend 0 dollars on food because I live on a college campus. But, a cheap way to save cash on food is to buy lots of ramen!

I spend about $100-150 a week on food for 2 people (not including going out to restaurants). Being vegetarian helps keep my costs down. Also not buying pre-processed or frozen foods which are bad for you anyway. Instead of buying canned beans, buy dry beans and soak them. Little tricks like that help you save. I don't use coupons though... they make you feel like a poor person. $25 a week on food is a bit spartan. I'm sure it's possible, but one thing I don't ever skimp on is the quality of food.

yes...depends on your family units...if only 4 in family...its about 50 bucks or less...

omg im a pig when it comes 2 food i eat alot........ :-( not that im fat though im like 125 or something i can't gain weight so i think tht's good....... :-( but my parents spent like 80$ in food in a week.

i spend about 200 a month for me and my wife we buy in bulk if u avrerage it it about 25

We spend less now that I cook from home but usually around $100 a week if we go out for dinner some nights too. Here is a link that I think would be useful for you for $30 a week groceries. http://www.heart4home.net/30perweek.htm

I spend $100 or so a week and feed 4 people. If you do most of your own baking and cook from scratch you can get by on less.

Averaging it all out, I'd say I spend $20-30 per week on food.

Of course, some weeks I might spend lots more, like if I'm planning a dinner party. But that balances out with some other weeks, where I might live off of leftovers, and I'll only spend $10 or $15 on food!

As for frugality---saving money, reducing your food budget, etc.---the best advice I can offer is to stock up on things when they're cheap. If your local supermarket is having a big sale on ground beef this week (say, a really good price like 99 cents per pound), then buy several pounds of it, portion it off, and freeze it. If it's wrapped properly, meat can be safely frozen for up to a year.

Also, buy foods that are NOT prepared. In other words, stay away from canned Spaghetti-O's (for example). Instead, buy dry pasta, and make your own sauce (and your own meatballs, whatever). The cost per ounce for prepared products (as compared to making the same thing yourself, from scratch) can be very high.

Also: wasting food is the same as wasting money. Only buy as much of any product as you can store. For example, although meats freeze pretty well, most fresh vegetables do not. If you don't eat it all, and it ends up being thrown out in a week, you've wasted your money. Be conscious of your storage capacity.

I don’t think it’s possible to spend less than 25 a week on food. You might have some weeks where you spend much less than your normal amount if you look in your pantry and frig and use what you already have. You need to have a balanced diet that includes fruits and vegs. Produce is pretty pricey. I guess if you just had ramen noodles at 20c each or other cheap junk, your bill would be low- but that’s not healthy. I spend for myself and 6yr old about 70-90 a week on food. Whenever you see a big sale like a b1g1free- you need to stock up. Don’t use coupons unless it’s for something you would buy and use anyway.

i spend every cent i get on food! i eat over 13,000 calories a day and im a compulsive overeater with ocd... too much money!!!

for a family of three we spend about 250 to 300 per month.
got to buy in balk.
we make dinners and freeze them for another day, and i will take leftovers for lunch at work.
i save about $30 a week buy not eating out for lunch.
