1. for a drink vending machine, if you have afterschool sports maybe you could say that you could buy your drinks there
2. if you forget your lunch, you could buy something cheap
3. for other afterschool activites, if your hungry instead of using old bad stuff from lunch you could buy it there
4. the school would get $$$$$$

Depends more what's sold in the vending machines (candy and soda versus more "healthy" options (dried fruits, nuts, juice, milk,etc.....).
