Has anyone else ever eaten something similar to this?!


Question: I believe it's a russian dish.
it's basically just cut up onions, salt and oil. eaten usually with black bread.

This is simply a base of the Russian Open Sandwich
and should be topped with caviar, little fish,eggs and pickle, smoked meat etc.
Obviously in very hard times, during emigration to the USA for example, perhaps there was nothing to go on top, but this is not a proper dish now or in the past.

No, but it sounds good and I hope somebody has the answer.
