Is there a certain kind of onion that won't make your eyes water as bad when you cut it?!

Question: All onions have the same acidic content which causes the eyes to run. There are all kinds of "tricks" to help combat this problem however the best way is to simply have a very sharp knife and chop the onion quickly. The less time you spend hovering over the onion the less tears shall run. I personally use a motorized mini chopper to do my onions now. No tears at all.

Yes, vidalia onions are sweeter in taste but the acid is still there. They will make you cry just like all the others.

ALL onions have oxalic acid, the active ingredient in tear gas.
There are many cutting techniques to reduce the effect though, like cutting under running water...

i don't know but i heard that if you chew gum while you cut a onion your eyes won't water
i haven't tryed it though

when you're cutting your onions, while, or after you peel them,(I do it while) run them under cold water for about 10-15 seconds, it will rinse all of the strong juice off of it and it won't burn or make your eyes water one bit! -even just try, just to see how well it works :) good luck

All onions have the same ingredient as tear gas. They won't make your eyes water if you will cut them under running water.

If you chew gum while cutting onions it wont make your eyes water

Stick with a "White" onion, keep it in the fridge and put it in the freezer for 15-25 minutes (Don't let it freeze).
Cut it immediately and you'll be "good to go"
