What is a boysenberry?!
These days, Knott's Berry Farm is much more than a berry patch: roller coasters, wild rides, a water park and tons of themed fun cover the amusement park. But if you visit, don't leave without stopping in at Mrs. Knott's Chicken Dinner Restaurant for some finger-lickin' fried chicken and - that's right - a slice of boysenberry pie.
Answers: A boysenberry is a large, juicy bramble fruit that is a hyrbrid of loganberries, red raspberries, and blackberries. Walter Knott helped cultivate this new berry in the 1930's after Anaheim Parks Superintendent Rudolph Boysen had experimented with the fruit but was unable to keep the hybrid plants alive. Knott took the plants, nurtured them to health and named the new berry after its originator. Today, all boysenberries in the world can trace their roots to Knott's Berry Farm.

A boysenberry is a type of glossy, large, juicy berry related to the North American blackberry. In addition to being eaten fresh during the brief growing season, boysenberries are also incorporated into jams, preserves, and syrups. Their flavor is somewhat reminiscent of a raspberry, with a more tart undertone, especially when the berries are not fully ripened. They are available from grocery stores and farmers' markets, but since boysenberries are not very stable off the vine, it is important to eat them within two or three days of purchase.
I believe it looks much like a backberry or raspberry....different color though...(I'm guessing)But the jam is out of this world in jam world:o)
When I was a kid, which was a long time ago, my favorite syrup to put on pancakes and waffles was Boysenberry Syrup. MMMmm. Delicious. That kiss sounds good too though, if you're of age.
