Soaking beans look like they were sitting in water too long?!

Question: I was soaking my beans last night so I could make chili today, tehy are red kidney beans. After an hour or so, they looked pruney, like your fingers get when you are in the bath too long. It said to soak them overngiht so I left them in there, but what did I do wrong? I've soaked garbanzo beans before and didn't have that happen. I'm assuming they're still good to use.

Poor baby!!! yes they will look "pruny" from the soaking. Yes, they are good.

I hope you did NOT drain off all the nutrients that leached out of them into the soaking water!!

After they have soaked over night, turn on the fire to medium or if crock pot on high. Bring to boil and turn down the heat to simmer. Cook for 4 to 6 hours in Crock.

Do NOT drain off the cooking water either!!! It is loaded with water soluable vitamins and other good nutrients.

They are supposed to look like that. They will plump up when you cook them.
