(This is 4 teens ONLY) School lunches.....?!

Question: My school (cumberland Valley High) has gotten rid of many of the good foods like the nacho cheese, and the cheese on the broc. I heard that not all schools have dun that, but 4 ours it sucks... B/c the ppl that they were targeting to eat healthier wont eat the bad, lo-calorie lunches, they eat like 6 ice creams which is even WORSE!! What r ur opinions about wether or not they should get rid of food just b/c SOME people r struggling, while others rnt.

i think they should just get rid of anything that contains lots of sugar. i know what u mean, ppl eat like: ice cream, chocolate bar, cookies, fries, pizza, soda..... that's insane! no wonder CHILDREN are becoming freakin diabetics. but this country seems to be a little slow in dealing with that. should've caught it earlier when we weren't the FATTEST NATION IN THE WHOLE WORLD. jeez.

:)

i think its crap cause people are going to eat more of the bad foods just even more of it and whats stopping them from going out and eating all the bad foods plus what they had at you school they should offer the healthy lunches and the bad stuff some people don't care and others need the bad stuff like wrestlers who need to gain weight

by the way i am a sophmore at a highschool and are school has done that kinda but they offer healthy and bad lunches

i think ur rite. it doesnt really help n-e-one. us skinny ppl gotta eat too! lol

Skinny people get clogged arteries and diabetes too.

Ah, no cheese on the broccoli? But broccoli goes so well with cheese sauce... A couple years ago, my old school had a vending machine with juice--supposedly healthier, but it was very sugary. I don't think they should have deserts or anything (I dislike most deserts anyway), but they could have a little cheese...

Well, it depends on how people look at food. Some people absolutely love it, while other people do to, but they are strong enough to control their food habits. In a way, they could be making bad or good decisions. For the bad, some people like those foods and don't want to change their food habits. For the good, it's good for them that do manage what they eat and it will handle the temptation for them, if they do get rid of those foods.

Hey, have you ever tried eating healthier? I've given up school food. By bringing my own lunch, I literally cut my fat and sodium intake in half! I feel better, more focused in school, and I look better too!

I guess the thing is, people are going to eat what they want to eat. But schools should be making an effort to give healthier foods to kids. If you don't like it, deal with it and find yourself a better alternative.

As to your last comment, it's not all about how you look on the outside. So don't say that "some" people are struggling. There's people who are extremely thin, but because they eat so poorly, internally they are not healthy. And when their metabolism's slow down, that's when the pounds will come on.

At my school we don't have any soda, or candy machines. I think our school lunches are pretty healthy. The hot lunch line serves pizza everyday, but there is also another selection (sometimes burgers, chicken niggets) The hot lunch line I think is un-healthy. BUT There is also a sandwhich bar where you can tell the cafeteria workers what you want on you sandwhich and they'll put it on. We have an A La Carte, an on that is usally stuff like PB&J's, Baked Lays chips, and salad. There's also fruit out like everyday.

And even thought the bad food isn't affecting you, it's still a good idea to cut it all out because it's still unhealthy.
