It's marketed by Mortons' and other companies as a salt substitute.
Morton's makes salt with half the sodium content (to avoid skyrocketing blood pressure/hypertension). It tastes the same and cooks the same.
I think heat adds the most flavor. I add black pepper and cayenne pepper to just about everything. And add hot sauce to a lot of items. I’ve tried Lawry’s and Mrs. Dash and the taste doesn’t seem that true. I like to use fresh herbs whenever possible. Just try to make it for a couple of weeks with less salt, your tastebuds will adjust and you won’t miss it after that.
