1.Why do Americans chew so much gum?
I am not a gum chewing American. I can tolerate chewing just so much, then I chuck it. I used to swallow it.
2.Can Americans cook? All they seem to eat are hamburgers, hot dogs, pizzas and other junk foods.
Of course we can -- but do we want to? I hate cooking -- I know how and can make great mills, but I gave up cooking along with husband #2; #3 likes to cook, even though he is 3,000 miles away -- when I am there he will cook for me. I don't really like the same things he does most of the time, so I am a challenge.
4. Why is this?
Why is what? Not cooking -- takes too much time, and I'd rather be doing anything else -- reading is high on the list, on-line is also, so is playing with my grandchildren. I alway manage to feed them, but they love the play as much as I do.
5.Is cooking included in the school curriculum?
It was when I was growing up. So was sewing; now the students are not segregated against, and I would be able to take wood shop or automotives if I chose.
6.Why are so many Americans obese, or to be blunt just plain old 'fat'?
I don't fall into that category... haven't been ove my weight class in 20 years or so. It is the eat and run style -- there is rarely any slowing down here. Everything is on time slicing -- lunch at the desk (also why no cooking), etc.
7.In which States are you least likely to find Junk Food Stores?
You will find junk food everywhere. But you will also find some of the finest restaurants, and food markets in the world.
8.In which States are you most likely to enjoy well cooked 'home style' food?
Which ever one you are in -- particularly on a Holiday.
9. List ALL of what you ate yesterday, Tuesday February 19, 2008, starting off with breakfast until you finally went to be.
Cottage cheese with 1/2 banana, tangerines, fruit cup. 1/2 a Marie Calendar's frozen turkey dinner for one -- shared it with my mom. Probably about 30 oz. of water -- a low day for me, usually it's about 64 oz. A piece of a dinner role, with butter. Can't remember if I ate lunch, but I doubt it. Probably some sweets.
I am a unique case; 4 years ago I had to have 1/3 of my stomach removed because the ulcer had burst open and I was bleeding to death. Taking out the third means food doesn't necessarily get digested until it is in the small intestine -- so it does me no good. This is especially true of iron, which is why I am constantly on the alert for anemia.
Doctor's have learned that when they take a certain part of the stomach out, the person no longer knows if they are hungry or full. That's me. It's about 2:00 PM and I am just now eating food -- this is the cottage cheese time.
well,,,rude much? I hate foreigners who think they are all that,,,
why you been like that
Stereotyping is very dangerous. I won't dignify that question with an answer.
Oh my gosh that is so many question that every one wants to know at some point in time. I think that americans can cook they are just lazy and don't. Some schools have cooking classes and they teach you the basics
do you want chesse with that?
sorry i'm too lazy to answer all those questions.....
You are ridiculous.
Today I have eaten a granola bar and small carrot soup with a roll. It's 4pm.
Gosh, I'm a piggy no?
1. They are trying to quit smoking. 2. Yes. 3. 4. Because we like it. 5.In some schools, yes. 6.Because they eat too much fast food. 7. There really aren't "junk food stores". People get it at the grocery store. Unless you mean fast food restaurants, in which case there's one on practically every street corner. 8. Every state, really. It depends on individuals. Most of the food I eat is prepared at home. 9. 2 poached eggs, toast, chicken and rice tea and coffee.
I am an American
1. I don't and can't stand seeing people who do, they look like cows and hearing them pop and smack is even worse and just plain rude.
2. I cook very well and you live in a small box if you think that is all we eat. Are you kidding me? You need to get out more.
3. Uh, apparently you can't count.
4. Not sure, maybe you're not very educated? At least in American we can count.
5. As an option in most schools, not mandatory, our mom's teach us. Yeah, that's right, how to cook those hot dogs is hard work!
6. Again, you=small box
7. I have yet to see a store that specializes in "Junk" except for antique type stores ;)
8. Each and every one! Remember we all eat burgers, dogs, pizzas and are all fat.
9. OK, I'm so glad you care.
2 cups of coffee
Baby spinach with cucumbers and tomatoes with vinegarette.
Some Kashi whole grain crackers
Some mushrooms sauteed with garlic tossed with whole wheat pasta.
A banana and a handful of grapes
By the way this fat American is 5'2 and weighs 103 on a good day, if I drink lots of water.
Junk food exists all over the globe, its not an american thing.
Its quick and easy,, the nowadays working lifestyle kinda forces you to do it...
if someone doesnt like it, well dont eat it,, stay home and cook.
itd be interesting to find out where you get this data from, i think its a cliche that american people are all that.
I am guessing you have never lived in the US, and if you have maybe you were just living at bay,,, maybe because that is what you like.
i woudl like to say a one thing, you went 1, 2, 4, 5 etc on your questions...lol
anyways here is what i think/do:
1) I chew gum because it keeps me busy when doing things. also some is tasty!
2) Americans can cook i think, but some can tend to get lazy!
4) why is what??? sorry im easily confused
5) Cooking is included in the school curriculum but i dont think its considered as a required class
6) I think americans are obese because of all the foods that people eat. there are so many good and fattening foods out there and some people tend to get carried away and eat a lot of it. once you know it, you weigh more than you think...
7) I would not know!!! Any place that has more active country things and not big huge cities with lots of cars and transportations i guess...just guessing!
8) i have no idea!
9) Let me think, i skipped breakfast, for lunch i just had a V8 (note i wasn't hungry till dinner) and for dinner i had pasta. lots of it, and it was yummy! it had parmesian cheese!
Too much cheese!!!
And BullSh**!
All cultures have stereotypes of other cultures. Especially americans. No many of us are not uncivilized pigs like foreigners think. Yes we can cook thank you very much. And this is because everyone pays little attention to the fit attractive people because there are so many obese people that distract you. Yes. cooking is. from sixth grade on up you get home economics. and so many are obese, well because. they just are. most of the time its people who cant afford food better than mcdonalds or burger king for every meal. or its people who have low self esteem who think oh why bother even trying to eat right. and there are junk food stores everywhere you cant even tell me they dont have junk food wherever youre from. and wow, thank you very much. not everyone is a disgusting cheap pig you will find manyyyyy families having healthy homecooked meals everyday. such as mine and 98% of the people i know. and yesterday? i had a yoplait whips for breakfast. lunch, i had a sandwich, dinner, i had spaghetti with vegetables and tomato sauce. this morning for breakfast. i had toast with butter and jam, and rasberries. i have yet to eat lunch. read more.
i think ur being mean to americans there.
9) let's see, breakfast, special k with milk, followed by seedy bread with butter and vegemite, orange juice.
lunch, apple juice and, ummm, chocolate sponge cake thingy (heehee)
dinner, steak pie, green beans, ribena
there u go, not too bad, not too good!
1. I rarely chew gum except when driving. I chew something REALLY minty when I'm feeling tired on a long drive.
2. I don't eat hamburgers unless they are turkey burgers on 100% whole wheat pita or roll. I don't eat hot dogs. I make my own pizza on rare occasions on whole wheat crust. I don't eat junk food. I eat NO prepared foods.
3. You apparently can't count
4. Why is what?
5. Too long since I've been in school. I don't know. But my mom was an incredible cook (she was American). I doubt any school cooking program is teaching about healthy diets.
6. Who the heck to you think you are? I'm not obese, nor is anyone in my family.
7. Based on your correction: I don't go to fast food places... ever!
8. Yesterday, February 19th
● Breakfast: V-8 juice, Egg Beaters, 2 pcs. Canadian Bacon (which is low in fat)
● Snack (before heading to the gym): Plain yogurt with a little alcohol-free vanilla extract in it.
● Lunch: Turkey burger (no roll), reduced fat cottage cheese, sliced cucumber (about 10 slices)
● Dinner: skinnless turkey breast with zucchini, onions & green peppers topped with 3-pepper salsa (low sodium), & and little shredded reduced fat Mexican Cheese blend - baked.
● Dessert (a rare occurrance): A homemade (purchased in the organic market) Chocolate chip & almond cookie, made with oat flour, maple syrup, with no processed sugar, no white or whole wheat flour... vegan.
Today:
● Breakfast: V-8 Juice, Kashi whole grain cereal with banana & skim milk, 2 pcs. turkey bacon
● Snack (before heading to the gym): baby carrots with hummus
● Leftovers from last night's dinner
● Dinner: Tonight it will be a large dinner salad, with broiled, wild caught salmon. It'll be a mixture of lettuces (no ice berg), red onion, celery, cucumber, chopped walnuts, some red. fat sharp cheese. I make my own dressings (never, EVER anything bottled except the occasion organic, red. fat I might find at the organic market).
Did YOU eat that healthy yesterday (or today)????? Do YOU buy organic???? Do you eat whole grains at all times and read all labels to make sure there's no wheat or enriched flour (both are the same)? Are you in the gym every day, and sometimes twice a day... doing both cardio and weight training? I'm over age 60, and I bet I eat healthier and am more fit than you'll ever be. How dare you insult Americans the way you have.
One question: "9. List ALL of what you ate yesterday, Tuesday February 19, 2008, starting off with breakfast until you finally went to be." "Be"?? Until I finally went to be what? I don't change who I am on a daily basis.
1- For fresh breath, and I guess we just like it.
2-I am an excellent cook.
3-?
4- As to why some seem eat so much 'junk food', maybe it's just that, it "seems" that way, though I think you are right, we eat too much junk food as a whole. The reasons could be for those that do:
Too busy with school, work, and it is cheap and fast.
5-Only in some schools, it's called Home Economics.
6-Because Americans tend to celebrate by eating, get to know one another by going to dinner, it seems like most of our socializing is done with food! Also with computers, video games, and movies people don't get as much exercise as they used to.
7-Junk food is found everywhere.
8- That would depend on your definition of home style food, but as with junk food, good, healthy food is found everywhere also.
9-This is not a balanced meal plan, but I had:
Breakfast-COFFEE!!!
Lunch-An Apple and water
Dinner- Meat loaf, Mashed Potato's, Green Beans, Rolls and Iced Tea. All cooked by me.
Just curious, where are you from and what do you eat?
have you ever been to america?
they arent all fat and they dont all eat sheet food. some are very fit and healthy. dont generalise, your conforming to the worldwide stereotype of the american nation.
but everybody is entitled t their opinion but you can forget me answering and in effect aknowledging those questions. they are unfair and inconsiderate. im a british citizen and proud to be so, i dont like george bush but then again i dont like tony blair either, or gordon brown for that matter.
:) xx
I checked out your bio to see where you were from, but I guess older is wiser. Asking 8 questions for 5 points, not bad. Asking whether cooking is in the America's curriculum indicates you are probably not American, otherwise you would already know the answer to that one. So, I decided to answer the question that I thought best deserved an answer. That would be the question between 2 and 4.
So what's your question?
