What kinds of food CAN'T you microwave to cook???!
I'm talking about cooking the ingrediants for the first time. For the looongest time, I thought you HAD to boil noodles in order to make them bendable (probably because I've never seen anyone do it any other way in my family). Well, go figure - I learned you can just microwave them in water.
Same for many other foods. I can't think of many off the top of my head, but rice is another one.

I'm wondering about RAW BEEF AND OTHER MEATS specifically, but would like to hear input on all foods. Remember, I'm wondering about first-time-cooking preparation...NOT re-heating meals.
And I'm more concerned about health/safety and durability (the food won't fall apart or be mushy when otherwise it should be solid, or visa-versa), as opposed to taste, as I'm aware cooking over an open flame always gives better taste.
Answers: I'm not talking about re-heating meals.

Nothing would be unhealthy or unsafe cooked in a microwave. However, meats would be tough and dry, eggs would be rubbery, most baked goods will be hard and dry, etc. But all would be "safe".

You can cook raw beef in the microwave but it just doesn't taste as good as if you were to grill it... it will come out rubbery...and I'm also not sure if it will actually bring it up to a safe temperature...but I have done it before and I didn't get sick...
they are wrong about the eggs , i used to do it all the time at work in tha morning
You can boil eggs or poach them in a micro provided you prick the yolk sac. Otherwise it will explode and you will be forever cleaning it out.
However, scrambled eggs are great in a micro, 3 eggs into a jug, salt and pepper, a knob of butter and a splash of milk. Cover the jug with clingfilm. Set High at 2mins, take off clingfilm mix the eggs with a fork cover with film again in micro for another minute.
Take off film, mix again with fork and dish up. Yummy.
Bacon can be cooked in micro but other meats will not brown and look inedible although cooked through.
Fish can be cooked on a plate with 2 tablespoons of water and covered in film on high for 4 minutes. Slit film, drain water
dish up coat fish in butter. Especially good for cooking haddock.
Uncle Ben's 2 minute Rice all varieties can be cooked up a treat in 2 minutes as it says on the packet provided you break up the rice prior to opening the two slits on side of packet, thus enabling all the grains to get the heat.
These few items can keep you well fed over a week.
Happy Cooking.
