Waffles are far superior to pancakes. Toasted to perfection, waffles offer more levels of texture-related complexity. Crispness, softness, moisture and dryness meld perfectly. Pancakes are just spongy masses of flour and water that turn to mush within minutes of adding syrup
Also waffles don’t get soggy when you put syrup on them, but pancakes do.

I only eat pancakes from IHOP, and I eat waffles from anywhere, so I choose Waffles.

I love pancakes but waffles are good to consume as well.
Pancakes are more cost effective for a group: they don't require as much time, supplies, and toppings as waffles do. But...waffles rock when you want to put on toppings like fruit and whipped cream. Plus they crunch and are more fun to eat. Whatever your budget is will make the decision for you. I'm going to waffles since I haven't had on in about 4 years and it sounds really good right now. In my family, my 9 year old son has chosen WAFFLES. My husband likes PANCAKES. I prefer the waffles because they're individually made (at least here), and the squares in them hold LOTS of syrup. However, for a group event, you'll want to do the pancakes, which you can make a ton of in the same amount of time as one waffle.
Definitely homemade waffles! They're even better with ice cream!
