Meat is not to be frozen in the store package.

Portion your meat out; wrap in freezer paper using freezer tape and use a marker that won't bleed to date. Don't worry about the ink getting into the meat as freezer paper has a coated side that faces the meat and protects.

I usually then toss into a gallon size freezer bag placing meat behind any of the same that is an older date to use older first.

Generally, I will not reuse a freezer bag that had meat in it, just on the off chance it bled, but they are certainly reusable if holding other items.

Freezer paper and tape are cheap and work teriffic.

If the package is well wrapped and sealed use that, if not use a freezer bag.

I separate mine into 1 lb sections (estimated) and bag them in freezer zip top bags. Squeeze all the air out and sort of flatten the meat (itll thaw quicker and store easier) and toss in the freezer. I always buy in bulk and freeze like this. Be sure to date and label!

I use those freezer bags unless I know the meat won't be in the freezer for more then 2 weeks, then I use whatever they come in.

i throw it in the freezer as it comes. we use it up pretty quick.
