Do diet drinks really make you gain weight?!

Question: I drink a lot of diet drinks, and I heard that they actually make you gain weight. Is that true? If you know any other good or bad facts about diet drinks I would love to know. Thanks

A recent study shows a link between diet soft drinks and weight gain. Now, they're not saying that the diet soft drink is what's actually "causing" obesity - The study shows that something linked to diet soda is also linked to obesity. They stress that you have to look at what's on your plate, not just what's in your glass. They are thinking that people who see themselves starting to gain weight, will start drinking diet soda. So it's not the diet soda, but something else that triggered the weight gain in the first place.

Here's the article in it's entirety.

u shouldn't drink them too much, but theyre ok and dont make u gain weight if u drink them in moderation

Yes they will.. they are worse then regular pop.. Just give it all up and drink water..

After researching this quite extensively I have found at the health food store a pop called KW Knudson that is sweetened only with fruit juice and tastes like real pop. They are about a dollar a can and come in many flavours.

not really, coz i drink diet drinks also, and i think its good in the body, because it has no calories, and maybe it cannot gain weight, maybe if u eat too much, you can ,gain your weight, thanks

.avoid nutra sweet, aspartame like poison

They will give you cellulite if you drink too many. One or two a week should be okay though. Drink plenty of water to counteract.

I just read an informative article about this recently. It's not actually the pop itself, but something that is used in the pop, triggers an enzyme or something in your body/brain and you end up eating more food calories to compensate without realizing it!

Moral of the story: So the next time we make fun of the overweight guy with 5 big mac's and a diet soda--it was really the diet soda that was the problem! lol

I drink 2-3 Caffine free, Diet Mountain Dews per week-
The rest of the time I fill up with Water & 1 cup of Tea
per day.
And I haven't gained any weight problems.
