Should I eat it or throw it out?!

Question: I bought some Haagen-Daz ice cream yesterday. When I opened it (it still had the white cover on it) instead of being creamy it was like icemilk. It was gritty and didn't taste quite right. The peanut butter (it is chocolate and peanut butter) wasn't even snappy like usual, it was more like creamy taffy. There is no way to get my money back at the store but should I throw this one out and just buy another one or is this one good to eat? Why would the ice cream not be creamy?

Begin by looking on the bottom of the container at the date. Ice cream is usually restocked by the suppler and not the store itself. Therefore many times the store management fails to periodically check the dates of these products.

If it's within in the sell by date then this is a sign of thawing and refreezing. When Ice cream is made, lots of air is whipped into it while it's being frozen. If it thaws then the air escapes and ice crystals form, making for a gritty texture.

With that being said, your store should still replace it or refund you for it. If they do not, never shop there again and I would definately pen an email to their head office. Trust me, no food establishment wants a potential customer to think they sell old or bad products.

just throw in the blender and have milkshake, that should make it creamy

Throw it out!

if you got it yesterday, I'd take it back and get another!!

take it back to the store i wouldnt eat it

When in doubt throw it out.

sounds like it was melted and refrozen. next time take a look in the store-if it looks the same- tell the store manager

it was freezer burnt , take it back exchange it or get your money back ,have a wonderful day

If it was me i would go back to the store and speak to the manager, and get my monney back and then go to anothere store and get some there,
if he sais that he wound give your monney back then throw it out!
dont eat it, it can do some damage to you!

Sounds unedible, it may have thawed out and re froze from the time it was made to the time it arrived to the supermarket. I would not chance it.
