Why is my body reacting to food this much?!

Question: My body seems to be very sensitive to food.

Today I ate an apple & yogurt for breakfast, and had some salted peanuts for a snack. Around 12:00, I was very hungry, and ate chicken noodle vegetable soup, and had a salad. I feel like if I eat something high in fat, my energy would go through the roof and I'd probably start freaking out.

So, my question is how can I still eat enough for my metabolism, but not feel like I'm on a sugar rush?

CM had some good ideas.

Higher protein, and higher fiber are usually a lot of help.

Believe it or not, moderate amounts of fat can help you even out blood sugar swings.

Try to eat small portions of food several times a day, try to be consistent, and make sure you have carbs, protein AND fat at all your snacks.

I'd say that some of the fears around food might be psychological, but I think that is what the doctors thought about me 10 years ago. Now I've got some verifiable health problems that are related.

Go see your doctor and get a fasting blood test. Be really, really pushy, and try to get them to give you a glucose intolerance test. That can detect diabetes or reactive hypoglycemia.

But feeling wired from food isn't necessarily a symptom of diabetes or hypoglycemia.

Eat foods that are high in fiber and complex carbohydrates. Protein will also help keep you feeling fuller for longer. Foods that are high in sugar and 'white carbs' only give you a brief burst of energy, and you crash soon after.

Try adding some peanut butter, or oatmeal to your breakfast, and add some more veggies and protein in your lunch.

Probably a high protein is the best for breakfast

Eat only what you need in your system and if you want to eat more than what you can i thinks its a problem and you might want to consider a doctor :o)

Sounds like its more a mind thing then a food thing. Your body is not reacting to those foods it's just that you are an active kind of person. When any one eats no matter what, they feel good and feel like doing things. I eat breakfast in the morning and I feel great and I start to clean my house. I can get the same reaction with out eating just by turning on the radio!

if you're looking for foods that will both boost your metabolism and keep up your energy try eating more multigrains as well as fresh fruits ad vegetables. foods that are high in fiber will also help keep you full.

OMG BOY CHILL im pretty sure if you take your calories up to the next level u wont have a "sugar rush"
