I was nervous too when I first tryed it out, but its not bad to be honest. Well for your answer it depends on where your going to buy the sushi from. If you go to some fast food joint like in the mall or something I would (for beginners) try the California rolls. But if you are going to a professional sushi house I recomend trying the Kappa Maki a.k.a (cucumber roll) Hope this helps. Oh yeah if you are still going to a professional place dont use too much soy sauce to cover up the flavor cuz this may offend the chef in thinking you dont like it.

Start with a soy roll. It has no sea weed wrapper which turned me off ...the flavor being so strong. My friend introduced me to them and now I love them. The tuna is great, the texture is like the most tender meat and not fishy at all.

you can try california rolls has imitation crab in it...shrimp tempura roll is cooked and tastes really good...i like tuna and salmon for fishes and would recommend that for starters

You might want to try sushi with shrimp first just to get an idea...then try the Philadelphia roll, very delicious. After the Philadelphia, you should be able to move to maybe a spicy tuna roll. Stay away from the sushi where the fish smells or tastes too fishy...that usually turns off the sushi amateurs...I love Sushi so Enjoy!!!

By try do you mean eat? Or a way to make yourself slowly eat a sushi?

Eat well, start of with some other items. Like maybe try tea, or eat some seaweed and tell yourself that these sushi makers don't use poison or toxics. And maybe eat like a little piece of the sushi. Like very tiny.

1. go to a reputable sushi restaurant.
2. Sit at the bar, so you can talk to the chef directly
3. Let him/her know that this is your first time, and what is the recommedation.
4. Enjoy!

Try some seared Ahi (lightly cooked tuna), have some smoked sake (smoked salmon), those are fabulous!

Try it! I would eat it every meal if possible! When I go, I just get a plate of sashimi.

Well one its not 100% raw, its cooked, trust me, i dunno how (smoking them is one of them, but i dunno the other ways) try Californian Rolls, they dont have fish in it, but instead fresh little vegetables inside them and they're one of America's fav sushi! (they're really good and very healthy)
I used to live in Japan, of course we tried the Donuts (they called that) and wat they are are those triangular rice with a strip of seaweed on them, so it was a good start and plain, but with different food inside the sushi gives it a better taste.

U dunno until u try them! And try different ones, they all taste different.

Wen i was little, i hated Hamburgers cuz i tried it from this one restaurant but later on i tried different ones from different people and restaurants that i found some that i liked and some that i didnt.

Hope that helped u! Bon Apetito!
