Can a Clam bite?!

Question: The clams you would dig for at the beach to eat can they bite. Like when you are prying the shell open to get the meat out are they able to clamp down and bite and hold on you finger?

Yes they can. Some Giant Clams, usually found in the south Pacific and measuring 4 feet across, have been known to "bite" on a divers foot and hold him under water (though I doubt they know what they're doing) until he drowns.
