Thyme or something else?!

nothing is exactly the same as thyme, but perhaps it will taste delicious if you use alternatives
Dill, Sage, Basil, coriander, oregano, fennel, tarragon....
Try any herb, but build the flavor - don't charge in with a handful right from the start.

oregano

You might try tarragon. It will change the flavor profile of the dish, but should still be good.

it realy depends on what you are making

no thyme has its own special flavor u might want to go buy some or you could put parsley but that has a minty flavor

the constituent that gives thyme it's unique flavor is thymol and can also be found in oregano but in lesser quantiles
the main constituent that gives oregano it's flavor is carvacrol and is also found in thyme in lessor quantities
while oregano will give a different taste it can at the same time be similar
