Bread in a can?!
-Little Chef
Answers: Has anyone ever had brown bread in a can? It sounds really weird, but I assure you it's really good. It's slightly sweet and I think it might have raisins in it but I can't really remember. My Dad used to buy it when I was a kid, anyone know where I would be able to find it, or has anyone heard of it?Thanks in advance!!

However for a really authentic Boston Brown Bread, follow the recipe and let me know if it satisfies you. (I think it's time I tried it again)!
combine
1 cup yellow cornmeal
1 cup rye flour
2 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
combine in separate bowl
2 cups buttermilk
3/4 cup molasses
1 cup raisins
add the liquid to the dry ingredients - pur batter into 2 buttered 1 lb coffee cans about 3/4 full. butter lids before closing, and tie on to keep seal tight. Steam 3 hours in 1 inch of water (place cans on trivets in bottom of heavy kettles with tight fitting lids - if you have no trivets, use balls of foil to raise the can off the bottom of the pot) Cool breads, remove lids, for easy removal remove bottom of can with tim opener and push out.
Good luck!
Do you mean this?

I ate this often as a child. I looked for it at the store the other day, with no luck. It is really quite good!
You can find it with the baked beans in a can in your larger supermarkets. They usually will only carry one brand. My dad loved it too.
Someone bought that for a christmas present one year in my family. It has been passed around several times as a joke. I'll try it if they try to give it to me next time. Thanks for the heads up! Who would have thought that bread in a can could taste good....
