Butter, Margarine, or Oil?!

Question: which do you cook most with and why?

Answers: which do you cook most with and why?

I never use margarine. But whether I choose butter or oil depends on what I'm cooking, and how. Butter burns really easily, so I don't use it for high-temperature cooking like frying. And you can't use butter for deep frying.

FYI, flax seed oil and grape seed oil are the most nutritious, but again, you can't use them for every type of cooking.

Interesting question! Star for you!

Well, I use olive oil a lot. I am Indian, so in India they use this special fattening-homeade butter called 'ghee'. In America, I don't have time to make 'ghee', and butter just isn't the same. I don't use margarine because I don't like it's flavor. I use olive oil because it has good fats, and is light. I go to Costco, or Sam's Club, and buy a big gallon of Fillipo Berrio Olive Oil. I'm not a member of these clubs, but my friends get it for me. As an ER doctor, I see many people die of heart attacks, which is the main reason I don't use butter or margarine.

When I'm baking I typically use butter. When I'm sauteeing I use olive oil. I never use margarine.

i personally prefer solid , off the skin pork fat. bacon lately as i no longer butcher my own. and mostly just because i grew up that way and my palate reacts to anything that brings back memories of good times.

margine

i use butter most of the time...but vegetable oil for like brownies or cookies...i never use margarine...i think that butter makes it kind of sweeter...it always tastes better too!!

I never cook with margarine unless that is all I have in the fridge, it is a healthier replacement for butter as a spread, but I do not like cooking with it. It just does not have the flavor.
Unless, I am frying chicken, I try to use olive oil as often as possible. I prefer the flavor and the obvious health benefits.
I always use butter when making a roux..it just tastes better.

i use evoo, evtra virgin olive oil, because it is the cleanist most high quality oil plus it won't clog your arteries

Butter or oil ......... never margarine. I want the good stuff
