3 days past use by date - chicken still good?!

Question: I have a pack of thighs which is sealed and its been in the fridge since I bought it, the use by date was 26th Feb..... Today is 29th Feb - given that I think it smells ok, and will be cooking it to buggery in a moroccan style dish, do you think it will be ok or should I trash it??

Chicken is the worst because of the bacteria salmonella. Best to be safe & toss it.
For future reference, freeze it as soon as you buy it, even if it's just for a day or two.

No chuck it..

Jordan

trash it

Trash it better safe then sorry or throwing up

I wouldn't eat it...

It's probably fine, but use it quick.

Definately trash it ... since it was in the fridge... if you had it in the freezer then it may be ok

If it still smells good, go with it. Make sure it's cooked really well, though!

As long as you cook it about 160F you are ok because that will kill the bacteria if there are any.

I would definitely trash it

No way. You'll be sorry later!

it should till be good if it's been unopened

find the nearest bin and trash it at once...

put some sperm on it then it will be god 2 eat

i wouldnt take the chance, throw it away!

Since it was just in the fridge, get rid of it. If it were frozen I would say okay.

Don't take a chance. Have you ever had food poisoning? Not a fun thing. I thought I was dying.

it's only thighs-get rid of it

If it were in the freezer Id use it.. but fridge NO WAY!

Salmonilla is not something to play with. Just buy new chicken

What I do is rinse it off with warm water first.

I would not risk getting salmonella poisoning from it.

dont take chances with poultry,if it was frozen it would be o.k.
not worth it if fresh.

I would suggest checking the bones. That can usually give u a better idea. It should still be good though. If u still have doubts please buy another one or u could get sick.

if it smells ok and appear ok the rinse it really well and cook it fully and there really shouldnt be a problem. Most problems with meat come from eating it raw.

Nope- I’d definitely toss!!!

There should be nothing wrong with the chicken. I cook it all the time for my husband. I would not trust it past three days however. It smells ok too so it's fine. When it doesn't smell good, throw it away. Don't take the chance of getting food poisoning. That can have far reaching consequences. We'll be over for dinner. What time?

I would rash it, just for safe

Absolutely OK. (If it is off you will smell it and, of course, not use it.) But no need to waste money. Take it out wash it under cold water (as you always do with poultry) and cook it thoroughly.
The date of the package indicates the date the store is legally allowed to sell the product. Just for your info: many stores re-wrap and "update" their products and put them back on the shelf.

They will still be good, and there will be no need to overcook them.

No, especially if it is at all slippery. Yuk.

If it smells good, you PROBABLY won't get sick. It's most likely good because food companies like to err on the side of caution. It lowers their liability. And if they scare you into throwing away good meat, you'll go buy more.
Just if you want the chance to sue for millions if you get a little puke and runs, you won't have it is all. If you get sick after eating it, you can't sue the company that packaged it.
