At Panera can I buy a loaf of their bread or do you just pick out the bread you want your sandwhich on?!

Question: looking at the menu online is confusing and I haven't been to Panera yet and I don't want to seem like an idiot when going in there any help would be appreciated.

You can pick whatever bread you want, typically. On the menu, it suggests the bread (for example, ham & swiss on a french baguette), but I almost always change the bread for whatever sandwich I want.

The only sandwich you cannot change bread are the panini's - they are pre-made, so you cannot substitute the bread.

As for buying a loaf, it varies from $3.50 - $8.00 a loaf. The plain white, french baquette is small and simple, so it's the cheapest. When you get the bigger, more complicated bread (asiago cheese), it gets pricey. Different locations may have different pricing, depending on geographic regions, but that is how much it is at my local Panera.

I'm sure you can by a loaf of it but usually people just get a sandwich on it. The bread is great however stay away from the pastries just read on line that the pastries aren't freshly made!

They usually have a section just for bread and pastry sales, but I'm pretty sure that you can choose the type of bread you want. :-)

Yes, they sell bread by the loaf and they will slice it for you too.
The prices are on the board.
