Is it alright to eat potatoes with buds sprouting off them?!

Question: No, I have heard that when they start to sprout or they are green they release a chemical that is poisonous, and in my eyes it's not worth it, keep them in the fridge in a paper bag or news paper and they wont sprout as quick.

no u cut them off.

Yes just cut the skin and buds off. When a potato starts to go bad it turns soft.

I don't know any reason why they wouldn't be alright to eat, but don't think they would be very tasty. And, most likely the potatoes would be rather soft.

yes.
as long as the color is fine when you cut it and it smells fine.

i Cooked some like that, and I'm not Dead, I'm still here.....their ok to eat, if you cut that off....

The earlier poster is correct. Potatoes contain glycoalkaloids which are toxic and increase with light exposure. Toss them.

the potatoes are fine IF AND ONLY IF YOU CUT OF THE SPROUTS!!!

Potatoe sprouts are poisinous, cannot be cooked like bean sprouts

Break the sprouts off and peel as usual.
