Foie Gras, what is it like?!

Question: Anyone tried it? The thought of what it is puts me off somewhat but I have heard it is a real delicacy.

When I was achef I cooked it many times, it is not much different than other liver products, except it is richer and fattier.

You quick sear it to seal in the fat, it is not something you can eat alot of, liverwurst is a mix of liver, and other ingredients, if you tried to eat foie gras the same way you would be ill.

I have had both the types, goose and duck, I prefer the duck, a milder flavour.

Cat food

Liver sausage. Oscar Mayer, and others, make Braunschweiger. It's close in taste to foie gras.

Oh Lord - if you're starving it can be quite good. Mixed with black olives it can be to die for.

foie gras is the fattened liver of a duck or goose. it's very rich and delicious! i think the best way to eat it is quickly seared and served on brioche.
