Which is cheaper? Rice or Potatoes?!

Question: Like can you get more rice then potatoes (mass), with $10? I'm preparing for College xD.

Ten lbs of potatoes are over $3 or close to that

You can get like 25# of Rice for maybe $5 to $7

Or a 1# for about 50 cents or so.

AND Rice is kept longer as long as it's kept out of a moisture area or in a bin. Plastic Bag in the refrigerator if it's a small enough bag.

They are both sold by weight. So.... when you go to the store look at the price per pound on the rice and then the price per pound on the potatoes. Are you sure you're ready for college?

It seems to me that rice would be cheaper, because it expands when it cooks, but really I think they're about the same. Cook the rice in broth, not water, and it will taste a whole lot better in your recipes, by the way. Pasta is actually pretty cheap, too, now that I think about it. It is good just tossed with butter and garlic powder (fresh minced garlic sauteed in the butter is better of course, but this is college!)

Don't forget Ramen! And you can add canned meat/veggies to it too (I use frozen veggies and cook them along with the noodles)

i think rice

go to the store and get a big box of those 5min rices..wil last you forever

plus rice is better because it wont go bad on you

Rice

Rice is definitely cheaper, it expands in volume, and because it is dry, it's much longer lasting than potatoes.....

Rice
