Egg colors?!
Answers: Hi. All the eggs I've bought here in Taipei look a bit different than the ones I buy in Maryland. The yolks of the chicken eggs are red instead of yellow. When cooked the yolks do look a bit yellow, but not as bright. Any idea why this is? There is no taste difference.
Actually even eggs here can have different colors to their shells and yolks....it depends on the breed of chicken. We have friends that raise chickens and we have gotten pale green shell eggs, and the yolk is a greenish/yellow, pale and dark beige eggs, and one that is a tad pale blue....all their breeds of chickens have different size and shape eggs....and we one day poached one of each that they gave us and tasted them....and while they are quite similar, there were subtle differences in the flavour of each....I would ask what breed the chickens are and you may find out more!
Dunno...that's really odd.
eggs are strange... turtle eggs are soft!!!
Red egg yolks may be caused by blood vessels that break on the surface of the yolk. Blood spots indicate a fresh egg and the spots do fade with time and are safe to eat.
You also mentioned how yellow the yolk gets and that all depends on what the hen eats. The more yellow-orange plant pigments (xanthophylls) she's eaten, the darker the yolk will be.
But just to be on the safe side, make sure that you are purchasing your eggs at a qualified, decent market place. The eggs also have expiration dates on them so do check for that. And of course, if you do start feeling a little sick to your stomach, don't forget to put this on your suspicion list.
Good luck!
doesn't sound very appetizing
I sure as hell wouldn't eat an egg with a red yolk.
The egg producers probably add Canthaxanthin to the feed to get that color in the yolk. We don't do that in the U.S.

I have no Idea I would like to see that I have never seen anything like that Good question though when you find out the answer let me know because I would think that they would not be safe to eat
