Why some people that appear on food network cook nasty things (except Bobby Flay and the Neelys)?!

Question: are they just there cause they are rich?

Answers: are they just there cause they are rich?

I actually think its opinion of taste. SOme people might like a certain recipe while others wont. Also it depends on what part of the country you are from.

p.s. The Neelys are from here in Memphis..YAY!

For the same reason that rich people eat snails and fish eggs and say it's a delicacy. yuck

What nasty things are you referring to? Please don't mention names. Most of the people on food network have been in the food service industry for most of their adult lives and have worked long and hard to make their reputations as chefs and restaurenteurs. I have worked in the field most of my life but not as a major chef and believe me, it is a hot and a very trying job to prepare food to suit the tastes of the customer.

You have to learn the basics of food prep, the principles of sanitation, then you learn recipes from tried and true sources. Once you get a job as head chef you are responsible for everything in the kitchen and the service to the customer, and most will spend what little spare time they have developing their own signature dishes.

Everyone has their own tastes and culture and just because you think the food is "nasty" (I don't like this word to describe food because it infers that it has been contaminated with dirt or other things that will make it dangerous to consume.) doesn't mean that everyone will.

I grew up eating field greens, and things that most young people will feel are not good but they were healthy and delicious. Most of the food consumed by today's youth I find beyond tasteless and very unhealthy. I will not mention names but most fast food franchises use things to keep their food from going bad and have very little concern for the nutritional value or what harm those things may do to the human body; I know this to be true because I have worked in a lot of them.

So, please, be more cautious in your tastes and your use of words.
