Should I wash or repack meats bought from supermarkets? If yes, how?!

Question: you may wash them either after or before packing, as long as it's not frozen. Repack meats in freezer paper and then in foil or ziploc bags.Wash them in cold water. If you wash them just before cooking add a few drops of lemon juice and set in a bowl for five minutes to remove any smelly oders. It takes the slimy feeling away from it.

Ground meats you cant wash. Everything else I give a rinse under tap water. I repack everything I'm going to freeze in Foodsaver bags.

I always rinse the meat before cooking. I worked as a meat wrapper years ago, please rinse before cooking!

i always wash -repack + rinse again b-4 cooking

Washing meat is the best solution, but if you cook the meat very well (well-done) there is no danger, washed or not.

With ground meats if you rinsed under water would just water log it so it wouldnt cook up right when thawed.
As for steaks, fish fillets, chicken pieces, pork and so on, yes you can and should gently rinse them off under cool water as when the meat department cuts them to portion the blades carry little bits from what ever was cut before to the new product. Specially with chops should this be done as with bone in you might bet bone chips or dust which is very unhealthy to consume. So rinse gently and pat dry, use good freezer bags or Food Saver Bags. Date and name what is in each.
This also saves you thawing the whole package then refreezing the part you dont use, which isnt all that good either

you can wash and repack all meat except for ground meat and always rinse meat just before you cook it
