Why does an apple go brown after you leave the core?!


Question: Hello

After cutting of Apple it turns brown colour, because of Oxiditation. Air is contacting Cut portion directly, because of Oxiditation, it turns Brown.

Because it gets rotten.

Oxidisation. Same as metal getting rusty. It reacts with the oxygen in the air and becomes brown.

There is an enzyme called polyphenol oxidase contained in the apple. when explosed to air it reacts with oxygen and iron containing phenols and oxidizes. this is what causes the rust brown color.
