Pasta and rice dishes which are really filling.
Jacket potatoes with different toppings, shepherds pie, stews, soups with crusty bread. Buy pizza bases and let them put on their own toppings.
Good luck.

how do they poo?

Beans and baked potatoes. There's protein and carbs in that. You could add some grated cheese, vegetables, salad.

Omelettes - various fillings

Pasta and vegetables

Home made soup.

You mean they eat like horses.................. Initially I was trying to work out what they hung their legs on................ Try rice and potatoes using different recipes............they are cheap and filling!

Spaghetti bolognese, chicken korma and rice, roast, pie and mash, jacket potato and filling like tuna and mayo or baked beans and cheese.

going through the same here?!
spag boug, sausages potato and beans and yorkshire, shepherds pie, chicken caserrole,

try flap jacks
as they have lots of oats in which fill you up

Pasta is good for filling and rather cheap. You can add lots of different foods to pasta to make it tasty.
Potatoes / Jackets and beans with cheese good hearty meal that will satisfie many people.

Rice is another good thing, chuck a stock cube in for added flavour with a bag of mixed veg.

You still want them to get the Vits, well here in the UK you can buy cheap bags of Veg for 99p loads of it. Its cheap but its veg with Vits, I find them still tasty to eat.

Just remember expensive food isnt all that great. Try buying a few cheaper Items in your next shop.

Pasta, potatoes, porridge.

Give them more healthy snacks or along with their meal - I usually give mine a bowl of salad on the side dressed with fresh lemon juice - therefore no/very little calories but the kids think they have had a feast! Sometimes, kids just like eating. I also give unlimited healthy snacks - if they tell me they are hungary I believe them but try to offer healthy options - i.e. an apple chopped up in a bowl (sweeten this up by adding yoghurt on top); freshly watched carrot sticks - makes ideal finger foods. - go to a fresh fruit and veg shop - they usually do deals on salad packs which works out cheap, also carrots - always cheap no matter what time of year.

no doubt there will various comments against this - but my children are exactly the same - my shopping bill is horrendous!! 3 meals a day is just not enough for them!!

i tend to buy microwave ready meals for them for in between normal meals (cheap and quick), they also eat cereal like shredded wheat to help fill them. my sons latest faze is rice pudding.

i know how distressing/annoying your situation is...and i personally DREAD school hols - i spent most of day at cooker/microwave and sink!!! anyone got a cheap dishwasher for sale -lol

Yes more filling meals.Go from cold breakfast to a warm breakfast.like instead of a cold cut snack make it peanut butter or a heavier sandwich with more substance like lettuce and more slices. Now,thats before dinner right after school to add to his depleting energy supply. That will hold him for a while but meanwhile, this means he's doing homework(mindpower) and then he's going to want to play outside(physical energy) and you know whats that means.

That means that it is going to call for you to be more patient with and give a lil more time not just that quick and easy sandwich, this is that "here, sit down boy and eat this sandwich, sandwich and drink you some water".Your dinners, open up anothr can of that good corn place just one more half a scoop of potatoes ya know, and utilize the side dish then bigger portions of meat.
This may call for lil more small time but you talking about sleeping through the nights full, not eating all the snacks and things(zoom zooms n wham whams).I know the drill.

try it San.
