Why do us British drink so much tea and the Americans drink so much Coffee?!
Answers: Im english and cant stand tea i drink gallons of coffee the stronger the better

Umm.. coffee makes you not as tired in the mornings, and i quess americans are just more tired then the british folk.:)

I like both.. depending on the time and how I feel. I tend to drink coffee earlier in the day and the tea later on.
it's just social tendencies, mate. that's how each culture evolved and your side of the lake likes tea and our side likes coffee.

I know Brits that drink coffee and Americans that drink tea. I don't like coffee at all. Americans started drinking coffee as a protest against the tea tax imposed by King George. after all the tea got dumped into the harbor, they had to drink something.

I am a coffee loving American. I tried to get used to tea, but I couldn't find anything strong enough. I like strong coffee - but I drink decaf! So for me, its just the taste I prefer.
It's the only thing that separates us from the Yankees ;) lol

Well I am British and I only drink coffee and hate the after taste that you get with tea.
It's probably to do with Empire/trading routes way back in history and tastes just sticking.
I think its to do with the empire and Tea becoming popular back in Victorian times, its stuck with us since then. Was safer than tap water and nicer than just boiled water.The USA didnt have an empire in India, hence the lack of tea. But they do have a lot of Italian immagrants in their major citied esp New York, and have already adopted pizza as their own, so I guess thats where their love of coffee came from. I like tea its great where did u get the idea it was tacky? hehe im not too cool for it, i dont care if its a grannies drink, im brave enough to admit lol;)!
